About Sarah
Sarah is a true outdoor industry insider. Her experience as a ski patroller, outdoor educator, guide, business owner, and risk management consultant help her serve Recreation Law Group clients looking to better understand how to manage risk within their teams, businesses, and organizations. Sarah’s broad experience gives her a comprehensive and unique view of risk management challenges that businesses face. From managing employment paperwork, permits, and contracts, to preventing and managing critical incidents in the field, to mitigating the risk of employment claims, Sarah brings real-world experience to her risk management role.
Education + Experience
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in French, Sarah joined the outdoor industry and hasn’t left. She worked as a ski patroller at Bridger Bowl and the Yellowstone Club, led outdoor field courses with NOLS, taught avalanche education courses, and served as a skiing guide for Exum Mountain Guides, Yostmark Backcountry Tours, and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
For over twelve years, Sara co-owned the American Avalanche Institute, a role supported by her completion of the Goldman Sachs 10K Small Businesses intensive.
All About the Outdoors
When not introducing others to the outdoors, Sarah enjoys experiencing wild places in the quiet of the winter environment. She loves to backcountry ski, which is why she lives in the Tetons. In the summer, Sarah explores wild places both on her mountain bike and gravel bike.
