About Ann
With a background as a general practice attorney with a focus on personal injury, recreation law, and criminal defense, Ann brings invaluable experience to her outdoor industry clients. Her work has included contract legal support for firms and solo practitioners in research and writing, motions practice, and pre-trial and trial litigation. Previously, Ann worked with schools, summer camps, and youth development programs providing risk management consulting, policy review and drafting, and expert witness services. She served on the National Standards Commission of the American Camp Association and was an accreditation reviewer for the Association of Experiential Education and independent school associations.
Education + Experience
Ann earned her J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law, an M.Ed. in counseling from the University of Virginia, and her undergraduate degree from Middlebury College in Vermont. Her legal and consulting services for schools, camps, and other outdoor operators are grounded in 20+ years as an independent school and experiential educator with 100+ weeks leading adolescents and adults in the field. Ann is a graduate of the NOLS Instructors and Alaska Mountaineering Courses and has been trained in wilderness first response.
All About the Outdoors
As a summer camp administrator, backcountry leader, and school experiential education faculty, Ann has guided adolescents in backpacking, hiking, climbing, canoeing, whitewater kayaking and rafting, high and low ropes, and initiative games. She also worked as a trekking guide in the Khumbu region of Nepal and has trekked on foot and bicycle in the remote, high altitude regions of Nepal, India, and Tibet. As an avid cyclist, Ann enjoys spending time on her bike on roads, gravel, and commuting. Endurance and adventure cycling have taken her incredible places including across Tibet and through the Rockies.
