A few years ago, I was very fortunate to meet Leah Corrigan. I met Leah in conjunction with a referral from an insurance carrier that I had worked with for more than 20 years. I learned that Leah had served as general counsel for entities insured by this insurance carrier and that the entities were facing significant, high exposure liability claims. I have been practicing law now for over 31 years and, without question, I was extraordinarily impressed with the work that Leah had done on these cases before my involvement. I learned that Leah had crafted Waivers/Assumption of Risk forms for these clients and done what most lawyers do not do – take the time to provide a thorough thoughtful Waiver/Assumption of Risk form that would help the client limit its exposure and the risks triggered by the claims they were facing. In addition, I learned that Leah had taken a very proactive approach upon learning of the event that would trigger potential liability and she successfully “triaged” the matter in a way that made it a much more defensible case. Without Leah’s level of attention on the front end and her triage efforts, her/our clients would have faced far more significant exposure and would not have achieved the very favorable results that were ultimately delivered.
